Register for the Forest of Reading

*Last updated May 18, 2021

Given we cannot announce the winners in person at the Forest of Reading Festival, we are adapting to celebrate the Forest of Reading in two parts: with our new Forest of Reading Virtual Celebrations, available through the password website ONLY to current program registrants, and with our Forest of Reading Awards, presented in partnership with CBC Books.

Forest of Reading Awards: Free to the Public, Partnered with CBC Books

The Forest of Reading Award ceremonies will be presented in partnership with CBC Books online through CBC’s platform Curio.ca on May 18, 19 and 20, 2021. We’ll announce the winners of the Forest of Reading Awards throughout the three days, hosted by Ali Hassan.

Each ceremony video will be released according to the schedule below and be available to view anytime after its release. All ceremonies will be available through CBC’s Curio platform.

Also check out interviews with the winners of the English Forest of Reading Awards on Curio!

The Forest of Reading is celebrating the closing of the 2021 Award Programs. Typically, the program culminates in award ceremonies hosted during the in-person Forest of Reading Festival, and this year, we are adapting with virtual celebrations. The most exciting part of the Festival is connecting authors and illustrators with young people, and even though we can’t get together in person that we won’t let that stop us from connecting with everyone. Here is what the Forest of Reading is offering this year for registered participants.

What is included in the Celebrations?

  1. Blue Spruce Read Alouds (9 Videos): 9 of the 10 nominated titles are read by the people that wrote them
  2. Yellow Cedar Virtual Visits: Learn from the Experts (6 Videos): 6 nominees do virtual visits to talk about their nominated titles
